Global Pagoda: The biggest pillar-less dome structure in the world!


In October 1997, the foundation stone of the Global Vipassana Pagoda was laid on the Essel Plateau in Mumbai. 

At 325 feet height, it is almost as tall as a 30 storey building.

Approximately 2.5 million tons of stone was used in the construction.

It took 11 years to finish. The foundation stone was laid in October 1997 and the construction was completed in November 2008.

Global Pagoda is one of  the biggest pillar-less dome structure in the world.

Near about 8,000 people can meditate at a time. 

It is located near by Essel world of Zee group in Gorai village at Borivli

It is recently declared as a 7th wonder of Maharashtra by Tourim Ministry.
